I founded Applied Research Consulting (ARC) almost 20 years ago to help individual programs become as effective as they can be. Through ARC, I offer mentoring programs expert, cost-effective consultation. Whatever mentoring model you implement, whatever population... you serve, whatever budget you have to work with, I will help you provide the best possible mentoring. Most of my work focuses on helping programs evaluate match quality and outcomes. I show programs what they are doing well and what they can improve. I do that by identifying the match dynamics that lead to the strongest matches and best outcomes. Essentially, I help programs do quality-control by showing them how to make their worst matches more like their best matches. I have spent my career striving to understand how mentoring works. With Dr. Michael Nakkula , I created the most comprehensive surveys in the field to measure the characteristics that drive strong matches and positive outcomes. Mike and I wrote the chapters on assessing match quality in both editions of DuBois' and Karcher's outstanding Handbook of Youth Mentoring .
