Appleby and Sterling

Appleby & Sterling, Inc was established in 1983. Prior to that the company was the "Wholesale Division" of Coldwell Banker Insurance Brokerage Co. As a result of the carriers we represented, Appleby & Sterling, Inc quickly established itself as a "Preferred & Standard Market" for the small to medium size agent's & brokers that have "Preferred & Sta... ndard Accounts", however, do not have a sufficient annual volume to obtain an appointment with standard or preferred carriers. In October of 1993 Walter M. Maurer purchased the company and moved the operation to Agoura Hills. Since that time, we have added to our professional staff and have experienced a favorable growth beyond our initial projections. We attribute this favorable growth to our staff, our reputation and the relationships we have established with the current agents and brokers submitting business to our office, combined with the exceptional carriers we represent to continue our marketing efforts. To insure perpetuation of Appleby & Sterling for the future, in 2002, Walt Maurer named his son, Michael W. Maurer to be President of the Corporation. Mike attended San Jose State University on an athletic scholarship. He then was active in the construction trade, working for 13 years as a contractor and for the past 15 years coming up through various underwriting departments of Appleby & Sterling. At the same time Appleby & Sterling added to it's underwriting staff Sue Fodor, who brings over 30 years of commercial underwriting experience to the agency. As of May 1, 2012, Appleby & Sterling moved to it's new location at 2290 Agate Court #D, Simi Valley, CA 93065. This will ensure us room for growth and expansion in the future.
