About APL Packaging
APL was born in 1987, when we started to design and produce retail packaging. At that time Nick Varlow started as Anglo Packaging Company. The business grew quickly, and Anglo Packaging Ltd was incorporated in 1988, which is where "APL" comes from. We built our first website in 1998, And yes! the home page said "Click to Enter"! Everyone thought that websites needed a front door in those days! Online orders take off! We launched the first ever packaging e-commerce site that really worked -and customers actually used - in 2002. We initially used a mind-numbing piece of software called Actinic. The site took 12 hours to upload using a dial-up connection! Fortunately, technology, and our spannering, moved on quickly. Our first Online Order was on the 11th July, 2002. (Thank you Celia H!) Things moved so fast that we moved from Hove to Worthing to buy our bigger warehouse in 2004, and we built our lovely bright offices at the front.
