About API Marine
API Marine was founded in 1963 by Howard Yasgar and Don Chaite in Miami, FL as a remanufacturing company. The primary focus of the company was to offer marine dealers an affordable alternative to new OEM starters, alternators and power trim/tilt motors and pumps. In 1996, the API management team of Brian & Richard Schneider purchased the assets and intellectual property of API Marine and relocated it to Fort Lauderdale, FL. Over the course of the next 10 years, the company transitioned from being a remanufacturer to a supplier of exclusively new products to both marine distributors and OE accounts such as OMC and Mercury. In July of 2013, SEI Marine Products acquired API Marine. The acquisition provides SEI with a premier brand and the manufacturing expertise to expand into the rotating marine electric parts business.
