Antique Photography Studio makes historic photographic processes available in the 21st century; like the wet plate collodion , the one that allows only 10 minutes to get ready, take the picture and develop it. Created in the mid 1850's, ambrotypes are positive images made on glass using this process, while tintypes are also positive images made on... black aluminum. Black glass ambrotypes are stunning, contrasty, shinny and very delicate positive images made on black glass. Clear glass negatives are made using the same wet plate collodion process with the great advantage of being reproducible. We do photography crafted by hand, we value the object, we sublime what we, humans can do. We have the patience to meticulously hand process each photograph and we have acquired experience in many related topics as well, for instance, the equipment we use is hand made, most by ourselves . The early photography story was embodied on glass or metal plates, images created by meticulous chemical reactions allowing silver iodides to react with light. They immortalized the resemblance of who was sitting in front of the lens. Those were the times of real photographs , objects to hold in your hand and stare at, to keep safe, to show and to preserve for generations to come. They were sacred, they were unique, not reproducible. They were valuable and they were so beautiful. Perfect mirrors of sitters, not just because of the inverted image produced by the uncorrected lenses of the time, but also because of the flaws each plate could reveal, no two of them alike.
