Anke van Zuylen

Anke van Zuylen is a Senior Lecturer in the Computer Science department at Cornell University. She received a Ph.D. in Operations Research from Cornell in 2008, under the guidance of David P. Williamson . The research in her Ph.D. thesis was awarded an Honorable Mention at the prestigious George Nicholson Student Paper competition in 2008 , and a B... est Student Paper award at the European Symposium on Algorithms in the same year. After graduating from Cornell, she spent two years as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute for Theoretical Computer Science of Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. She was the first recipient of the Lise Meitner Award Fellowship for Excellent Women in Computer Science , spending the next two years as a postdoctoral fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Informatics in Saarbruecken, Germany. At both institutes, she did research and developed and taught courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. From 2012 to 2020, she was a faculty member in the Mathematics Department at William & Mary where she taught in the undergraduate mathematics curriculum and in the graduate program in Computational Operations Research, and where she received tenure and an W&M Alumni Faculty Fellowship Award in 2018.Read More
