About Anglian Bus

Anglian Bus was formed in 1981, originally a family business based at Loddon in Norfolk, operating a small fleet of coaches on private hire and school contracts. In January 1999, Anglian began its first bus service for Norfolk County Council, the 580, using 4 new buses between Diss and Gt Yarmouth. Securing of further routes from Norfolk County Council, resulted in the company outgrowing its 1 acre site at Loddon. Thus, construction of a 10,000 sq ft garage, associated stores, offices & rest areas on 7 acres of freehold land on a new site just outside Beccles in Suffolk was completed in October 2000. Further contracted bus routes were won from Norfolk & Suffolk County Councils, following the relocation to Beccles, and in 2003, the first commercial bus service, the 588 from Halesworth to Norwich began. Continued growth in local bus service operation, resulted in the coach side of the business gradually reducing and the business is now wholly local bus service and contract operation. InRead more

In April 2012, Anglian Bus was sold to the Go Ahead Group, who also own other East Anglian companies Konect, Chambers and Hedingham Omnibuses as well as operating bus companies & rail franchises up and down the country. The Anglian brand, staff and routes were retained. David & Christine Pursey retired after 31 years, to enjoy the fruits of their hard work.Read More
