In 2002, from an idea sprouted by a simple recommendation from her sons, Daisy Harvey was inspired to start a non-profit that would help other single parents in the way that she herself could have been helped all those years before. Having raised six sons alone on one salary, Daisy knew all too well the struggles that other single parents faced and... had a heart and mind to do something about it. ANGEL's began its birthing stages. Daisy researched the internet, spoke with other non-profit directors getting information about non-profit organizations. ANGEL's, Incorporated was founded in 2003 by Daisy Murphy Harvey after she attended a volunteer appreciation service at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis, TN. During the dinner she experienced something that she had never experienced before or since. She heard the voice of God speaking to her and giving her instructions. The voice told her to go back home and start a program to help single parents and their children. She began to cry, and then noticed that the person sitting next to her was wearing an Angel pin. At that moment she heard the voice of the God telling her to name the business Angels, and what each letter would mean. She told God yes and then used donations along with her personal funds to finance the program. After making that first step, God began to open all kinds of doors to help her along the way. She applied for a 501(c)3 status and was approved in two months, which is no ordinary feat. After receiving her state charter, she then registered Angels in the county office. As a testimony to God's staying power, this year in 2012, Angel's Inc. has celebrated it's 10th year of community involvement. Angels works with the Juvenile Court System in Hardeman and Surrounding Counties. We offer Parenting Support, Juvenile Anger Management, and Juvenile Drug and Alcohol classes for a minimal fee.
