Her work to connect trained tutors with adult learners for literacy support was recognized with a Literacy Champion Award from the Massachusetts Literacy Foundation. A desire to understand more about language, learning, and the brain brought Angela to the MGH Institute of Health Professions, where she earned a master's degree in Speech Language Pat... hology and completed a master's thesis, Early Predictors of Later Reading Skills in Spanish-speaking English Language Learners. From 2007 to 2017 Angela worked as a Speech Language Pathologist at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), providing evaluations and treatment in outpatient clinics on the Boston campus and at the MGH Chelsea and MGH Revere HealthCare Centers. She specialized in working with people of all ages (from toddlers to retirees) to address concerns regarding language, learning and cognition and in providing bilingual Spanish-English evaluations and treatment. At MGH she received a team award recognizing service to Speech-Language clients. Angela then served as Director of Programs in a private practice, focusing on connecting students and their families with services and supervising clinical and support staff. Throughout her career as a Speech Language Pathologist, Angela has enjoyed training speech language pathology graduate students and clinical fellows. When not engaged as an SLP or literacy specialist, Angela is likely gardening, walking her dog, knitting, meditating, enjoying music, cooking, or spending time with loved ones.
