Angazia makes better choices affordable for people living in poverty. Our mission is to impact as many people as we can with life-changing technologies. Angazia works with peri-urban communities in Africa, specifically people who earn less than $2 a day. Many communities dont have access to piped, clean water and are forced to rely on unsafe water... supplies. A lack of electricity means many families are reliant on kerosene lamps for lighting and local kiosks for mobile phone charging. These solutions are costly, unsafe and have a negative impact on education and work opportunities. Every day, people are coming up with simple, innovative technologies that can be used at the household level to solve some of these problems. This is where we see the most opportunity for impact. So we started Angazia, a for-profit company which empowers local communities to help them access affordable products that meet their needs and give them choice. The Angazia model is simple: - We employ local sales agents who know our products, and believe in their usability and can build trust and consumer confidence - Our sales agents meet with communities to discuss their needs and how we can help - The community decides on the product they want from our range - The community forms a savings group to determine how much they can pay back, together - We provide support and guidance throughout this process - We give the product upfront - The savings group pay their money weekly via M-PESA mobile money - Our Sales agents meet with the savings group monthly, assisting with product queries and providing after-service care.
