About Anderson Mori & Tomotsune
No. ANDERSON MORI was originally started in Tokyo by American lawyers in the early 1950's. Although MORI is a Japanese name, Mr. Mori was originally a US citizen born and raised in Hawaii, who founded the law firm with Mr. Anderson pursuant to a special scheme that allowed lawyers licensed in the United States to act as quasi-members of the Japanese bar association. This system allowed American lawyers to give advice on Japanese law for American clients or advice on American law for Japanese clients, and it was abolished after the end of the Occupation in Japan, towards the late 1950's. Since the departure of Mr. Anderson, Mr. Mori, and Mr. Rabinowitz, all of the partners at ANDERSON MORI have been Japanese lawyers. Thus their firm is a Japanese firm founded by American lawyers.Explore more
