AmFirst Bank, based in McCook, Nebraska had its beginning in 1979 with the purchas... e of First National Bank of Hayes Center. In 1987, American State Bank in McCook was purchased and in 1988, the former Frenchman Valley Bank in Palisade was purchased and reopened as First National Bank of Hayes Center, Palisade Branch. These three banks were merged in 1989 to become AmFirst Bank. AmFirst purchased State Bank in Benkelman in 1992. In September 2006, State Bank officially merged with AmFirst and now carries the AmFirst Bank name as well. In early 1999, AmFirst Bank began researching the possibility of expansion or diversification as a part of the organization's overall strategic plan. Research results showed expansion to the front range of Colorado to have the most potential for both growth and diversification. In 2000, AmFirst Bank purchased a Colorado bank charter and opened an office in the Denver Tech Center area in June. This office is now located in the Greenwood Village area of Denver. This strategy continues to enhance the strength and development of the Nebraska holdings and growth continues along the front range of Colorado. In August 2007, AmFirst Bank opened a loan production office in Longmont, Colorado which is now a full service bank. The year 2006, marked the 100th Anniversary of our original Bank Charter as First National Bank of Hayes Center, signed on February 4, 1906.
