The program will be a joint undertaking of private sector interests, coordinated through the American Recreation Coalition, federal agencies coordinated through the Federal Recreation Council, and state park agencies coordinated by the National Association of State Park Directors. Washington, D.C. (March 26, 2018) The Outdoor Recreation Roundtable (ORR) today celebrated the passage of wildfire funding reform as part of the FY18 Omnibus Spending Bill. This new legislation will support long-term wildfire mitigation practices and safeguard important forest programs including recreation, ensuring Americans continue to have access to healthy, active outdoor recreation on their public lands. Great Outdoors Month® is coming! Spring is still five days away and six governors have already proclaimed June 2018 as Great Outdoors Month®! Governors Bill Walker (Alaska), Kim Reynolds (Iowa), Rick Snyder (Michigan), Tom Wolf (Pennsylvania), Bill Haslam (Tennessee) and Gary Herbert (Utah) have issued proclamations recognizing the important economic and healthful benefits of outdoor recreation and urging their residents to enjoy time in the Great Outdoors.
