The origin of the Amber Lantern's restaurant name derives from Dana Point, California. In this area, there are a series of streets named Blue Lantern, Golden Lantern, and Amber Lantern. Historically, sailors in the Dana Point area would utilize various colored kerosene lanterns. The owners of the Amber Lantern Restaurant fancied the name Amber, as it is also the name of their daughter, and the Amber Lantern was born.
