Alternative Veterinary Care

After graduating from Oregon State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 1991 I joined a traditional small animal practice in Albuquerque, New Mexico where I stayed for 22 years. There I saw how the power and usefulness of medicine helped my patients. However, sometimes they didnt improve despite what I provided or how many specialists they... saw. With these cases I knew there must be more that could be done so I started looking outside the traditional paths. I studied Veterinary Homeopathy with Richard Pitcairn in 1995-96 and was surprised at how receptive my clients were to it. It was clear that they just wanted their pets better and were open to anything that would or even could work. They encouraged me to complete course work in Veterinary Chinese Herbal Medicine in 1999, Veterinary Medical Acupuncture in 2002 and Animal Chiropractic Medicine in 2012 becoming certified by the Animal Veterinary Chiropractic Association. Ive seen these modalities help animals in ways traditional medicine could not and will always be grateful to my clients for their support. In 2013 I decided to open an alternative medicine mobile practice and was encouraged by my family to move back to the Portland area and do it here. Thus Alternative Veterinary Care came to be. I liked the idea of a mobile practice since animals seem really uneasy in a clinical setting. The species of interest are dogs, cats and horses. In these times clients are becoming savvy to a natural and holistic approach to the medical needs of their pet.
