About Alpacas at the Barn
Our alpacas are Huacayas, which 90% of the alpaca population are. The domestication of both alpacas and Ilamas dates from the period 4000-5000BC in South America, but it was the Inca who were particularly focused on the production of fine textiles as a symbol of wealth. We offer a range of experiences with our alpacas, from feeding, interacting, walking and more. Infact, these gentle creature are so calming just standing with them is like therapy. Alpacas at the Barn was set up on Fedruary 14th 2020. We have lived in the area since 2015 and the paddock has been a labour of love as we spent the time mulching and wedding it for the past 5 years, so we now have beautiful pasture for our alpacas. We've often talked about getting some livestock in the paddock but were never quite sure what.
