Allyson Adams

Allyson Adams is a writer, costume designer, teacher and longtime activist who has always been bold. Afterall, she was the Virginia City mayor who arranged for 400 goats to come to the town to clean-up noxious weeds in lieu of using chemicals long before such a move was fashionable. The story hit international news. She was interviewed by India Tim... es and MTV Canada everyone humored by the fact that there were more goats in the town than people. So, she shook things up a bit when she was Madam Mayor, but she is also an artist and not in some kitschy in-your-face way. She is an artist in the true sense pushing boundaries without really meaning to and finding inspiration in sometimes surprising places. Adams began her training on television and movie sets watching family members working in Hollywood. Then she took her passion for waitressing, theater and dance to New York City and studied with veteran acting coach Warren Robertson and Joseph Chaikins protege Nancy Gabor. From there she began producing her own experimental work down on the Lower East Side. Moving back to Los Angeles, Ms. Adams began her writing education with UCLA Writers Program, Robert McKee, Writers Bootcamp, Allen Ginsberg, Denis Johnson, Jim Krusoe, Deena Metzger, Tristine Rainer, Naomi Goldberg and others. With over 30 works produced, Adams has covered the gamut of topics, once writing about strippers in the critically acclaimed production PINK and about the nations first congresswoman Montana native Jeannette Rankin. Adams has toured 5 plays about Rankin and most recently premiered a sold out Yellow Roses on the Hill directed by Errol Koch at The Heath in Helena, Montana, to celebrate Womens 100 Year Suffrage victory.
