Allen was born in Bronx, New York, and attended the University of Oklahoma where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting. Also, he attended the University of Missouri and received a Master in Arts in Accounting in 1968. Prior to starting his own practice in 1983, he was employed for thirteen years with the national accounting firms of Arthur Anderson, KMPG Peat Marwick, and Grant Thornton. He also spent five years as a partner with a local firm. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Society of Louisiana Certified Public Accountants. He is also a member of the Institute of Certified Financial Planners, Financial Planning Association, International Association of Registered Financial Consultants, and National Society of Tax Professionals.
