Our grandfather The late Sheikh ABDULNOOR ALBASTAKI, when he established his businesses in early 1920s, from hotels,coffee shops,to retail stores it was in 1939 when he had the idea of building the first five star hotel in Bahrain and the Arabian Gulf,the construction started in 1940s it was during the second world war and because of the lack of fi... nding building materials at that time the construction was slow though many high quality hotel and hospitality imaterials came from England . In 1950 The Bahrain Hotel was opened by the late Amir of Bahrain HRH Sheikh Salman Bin Hamad Alkhlifa. Bahrain hotel was very famous in the 50s and 60s and early 70s in the Arabian Gulf and the middle east for all the Gulf Sheikhs and high dignitaries and businessmen from all around the Arabian Gulf and the middle east who used to visit Bahrain during the said years.
