Stedman has established himself as a prominent advocate for aviation safety in Alaska, serving as past-President of the Alaska Air Carriers Association, a board member of the Medallion Foundation, and a member of the Governor's Aviation Advisory Board. Under Stedman's leadership, both Wings of Alaska and Wings Airways achieved Medallion "Shield" status, a distinction earned by only the earliest Part 135 airlines in the state to meet the foundation's rigorous safety standards.
