About Adirondack Manor

In 1972, James E. Kane, Sr. opened his first adult home in Utica NY. Over the next 10 years he added 9 more adult homes. The mission was to provide a small home like environment to each resident while at the same time meet the needs of the local community. A central or main office provided oversight and professional staff to each facility. In 1984, James E. Kane, Jr. joined the company first as the bookkeeper and eventually as the controller. Although the company had several partners and several names over the years, Mr. Kane, Sr. was always the operating partner. In 1996, James Kane, Sr. and James Kane, Jr. formed a partnership called Adirondack Manor Homes for Adults and bought out all remaining partners. Today, Adirondack Manor owns and operates 11 adult homes located within 8 counties of upstate New York with a total capacity of 447 residents. The homes range in size from 24 to 60 beds. Adirondack Manors mission is to provide a safe, comfortable, supportive environment in which each individual can attain the quality of life they deserve. We accomplish this by understanding that each person is unique, that each person has a lifetime of experiences that has shaped who they are, that each person is entitled to considerate and respectful care.
