In 2nd December 1992, it was formally registered as a Voluntary Development Organization. In its early days the primary activities was on disaster management mainly focusing on drought and flood relief activities. Later on ADHAR decided to focus on the root causes of deprivation and marginalization and categorized them under two heads- a) the Struc... tural Issues involving the social, economical and cultural determinants and b) the Systemic Issues involving the policies, schemes and its practices at the ground level. As a consequence of this paradigm shift ADHAR's approach to community development completely module to peoples' centered participatory and rights based approach. Since last Strategic Planning exercise, ADHAR decided to concentrate its intervention on socially excluded children which specifically emphasizes on Basic rights of the children as envisage in United Nation Convention on Rights of the Children (UNCRC). As part of its mandate, ADHAR promotes child centric community development which basically focuses on holistic development of underprivileged children along with their families, communities and its surroundings.
