AcuraStem has found unique therapeutic targets that work broadly for many types of ALS patients. AcuraStem's founders wanted a name that would communicate the team's vision for utilizing stem cell models in a novel way. The name represents a more accurate way to predict disease progression and a patient's response to therapy. Initially the team focused on the name "AcurateStem," but subsequently changed it to "AcuraStem" with a capital S emphasizing the use of stem cells.
