We are a family business, with over 80 years of doing business in Mexico. During 1919, the founder Jose Ramon Fernandez Suarez was sent by his mother to live with his uncle in Mexico, this difficult decision taken by his mother, was motivated by the fear that the young boy could soon be caught up in the war that waged between Spain and Morocco. Arr... iving in Mexico, his uncle Rosendo Fernndez, gave him a new home, and a job in a factory of the lowest level in a candle factory, where Rosendo was one of the major shareholders. Between work and school, Jose Ramon, was able to earn his stripes and move through the ranks of the company. During 1926, Rosendo and Jose Ramon left the candle business, in order to work on a new entrepreneurial journey in the flour business. Rosendo few years later, sold his shares to his nephew, he retired and moved to Los Angeles, California. This flour mill, acquired by Rosendo and Jose Ramon, was the seed of what is now GEMSO. A group that has expanded not only in the flour business, but also in the car, agro, and now in the tilapia industry.
