Acts Clinic was established in 2000 through the vision of Dr Margie Hartman to care for the HIV infected and affected population of the Masoyi tribal area. Through faith and goodwill from all over the globe, Acts has grown into a centre of medical excellence in care and training in the area. There is a strong belief in the community of Northern Mbo... mbela, an impoverished rural community in Mpumalanga, that if you are HIV Positive and want to live, then you have to go to ACTS Clinic. Many patients will tell you that they had no hope before coming to the centrally situated ACTS Clinic. There have been many cases of patients transferred out to local clinic coming back to ask for help, with tales of ARV shortages, unmanaged HIV/TB, discrimination, disinterest and hours of waiting for nothing to happen. Acts Clinic is the local TB hub, has X-Ray facilities, a colposcopy unit, a paediatric unit and HIV specialists. This helps to take the load off the local Themba Hospital, which is already overburdened and far away. ACTS Clinic is a 3-star member of the HPCA (Hospice Palliative Care Association) of South Africa.
