Action Rental was founded in 1967 through the franchise establishment of Al Rentals in Allentown, PA. The original facility was 2000 sq/ft of office space in a strip mall. The original franchise served primarily homeowners with lawn and garden equipment, ladders, automotive tools, power tools, health equipment, and a small selection of party goods.... Shortly after the fledgling rental store opened legal action was brought against the franchise by the franchisors because their failure to meet their obligations to the franchisees. As a result of this action the Allentown location was released from the franchise becoming Action Rental Center. In 1972 Action Rental Center moved to its current location at 4535 Broadway in Allentown to a 6000sq/ft facility. In the years that followed, Action Rental Center began to develop a client base of contractors by adding more and more commercial construction equipment. Action Rental Center also grew its homeowner base by adding more do-it-yourself equipment as well as an increased amount of party items. Action Rental Center continued to grow in size developing a substantial commercial construction equipment rental trade as well as a commercial party and event rental business. This became an obviously odd marriage of two totally different types of clientele weakly held together by the company's homeowner trade. It was decided that it was time to separate these now totally separate businesses. In 1998 Action Party Rental opened its doors in a newly renovated building on the East side of Allentown. The split allowed the company to focus on the company's market and clarify the company's image as a construction and industrial rental equipment source.
