About Action on Disability
We are Action on Disability. We are a Disabled Peoples Organisation (DPO) striving to change perceptions and to end marginalisation, discrimination and exclusion of disabled people. This means that we are a charity led and run by disabled people committed to breaking down barriers and creating opportunities. Guided by our values and principles, focused on our mission, we pursue a singular vision. To be part of and promote an inclusive society free from disabling barriers where all individuals are equal. As explained in the Social Model of Disability, we view disability as a social construct and for the lives of disabled people to improve that construct must change. Therefore, we are committed to the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD). We work with disabled people, Deaf and Disabled Peoples Organisations, families and communities around Greater London because we believe we are stronger together.Explore more
