She holds a Ph.D in Civil & Environmental Engineering from Clarkson University, NY. She has been a Post-doctoral Research Associate at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign before joining IIT Madras. In the past, Sarath worked at Procter & Gamble USA, and worked in British American Tobacco subsidiary (VST Industries, Hyderabad). As an entrepreneur, he has built a trading business between India and the USA, covering engineering & fashion goods, and printing related services. Sarath has a B.Tech from IIT, Madras and an MBA from Booth, University of Chicago.
