About Accidental Discoveries

We provide archaeological literature and site file checks, reconnaissance surveys, site testing, and mitigation. We may also be called upon to identify and do basic documentation of historically or architecturally significant structures within a given project area. These assessments are made by assembling descriptions that include historical documents, maps, blueprints and photographs depicting structures and landscapes. We have worked with a diverse group of clients, both in the public and private sectors. These clients include numerous Federal, State, and local government agencies like the Indiana Department of Transportation, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, US Army Corps of Engineers, USDA Soil Conservation Service, US Postal Service, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, and various cities, and towns throughout the region. We have also worked with many firms in the private sector conducting projects like wire and fiber optic transmission lines, natural gas storage facilities and transmission lines, water and sewer lines, aggregate and coal mining, railroads, levees, parks, golf courses, landfills, residential, industrial, and commercial development and grant funded projects for local historical associations and societies.
