Academia Cesar Chavez (ACC) is a true community school dedicated to teaching the whole child, parent and the community. Every year from August to November teachers visit families at home to welcome them to ACC and the new academic year. Teachers are able to build strong relationships with families and invite parents to visit their child's class. Ab... ove all ACC supports and respects the use of each scholar's first language and their cultural heritage. The company promote the development of a second language (English) and support learning Spanish in ACC's Dual Language Program. The company is committed to improving the learning opportunities for scholars and increasing their performance by teaching the MN standards. ACC takes a personalized approach to learning for both scholars and teachers. Scholars are provided with academic support as needed to perform on grade level. Teachers are provided on-going professional development to improve their teaching practice. Every week teachers meet in Learning Teams to review their data, discuss instructional strategies and plan ahead. Once a month teachers receive a half day to plan or participate in professional development organized by the school. ACC provides coaching support for teachers to further improve their learning. Two literacy coaches and one math coach work alongside the principal to accelerate instruction. This team of four conduct unannounced observation daily and provide feedback to teachers within twenty four to forty eight hours. On Average a teacher will be observed 25 times each year.Read More
