Abacus Motel

We are a family owned and operated business who are currently enjoying working in the hospitality industry. We have recently purchased this business from the previous owners and have been very busy putting new ideas into place. Many people may remember the "good old times" at the Abacus Motel and our number one goal is to bring the Abacus back up t... o it's former popularity. We have, and still are in the process of upgrading so please be patient if some things are looking a bit tired. As they say, "Rome wasn't built in a day" and believe us when we say, it will definitely be worth it. We will strive to make your stay as enjoyable as possible and NOTHING is too much trouble. Mel and Shane are managing the motel and they are both working very hard (along with our wonderful staff) to bring the restaurant and the accommodation up to a very high standard. Mel and Shane have been in the Restaurant business previously, they share a love of cooking and have put in place an extensive menu. They value your comments and are always looking for new ideas and new dishes. They are a young, energetic and vibrant couple with three fantastic children who attend primary school in Mount Isa.
