Whistle Workwear

Whistle Workwear was founded in 1995 by Del Deide. The first store was in the South Hill Mall in Puyallup, Washington. Del looked around the retail arena and found that no company was approaching the workwear category as well as it should be. There were chain stores carrying a small assortment of work clothes and there were fishing type stores that... stocked some rainwear, and of course there were shoe stores that had some work shoes but mostly focused on casual and athletic shoes. He felt that if you were going to be important to the working person, you needed to provide all of the things they wanted and to put them under one roof. Secondly, Mr. Deide saw that because much of the merchandise that working people used was somewhat technical, existing stores gave little focus to product knowledge and customer service. By combining the best quality merchandise, putting it together under one roof and giving great customer service, Mr. Deide determined that customers would trade with him. The next thing to do was to choose a name for the store. Many came to mind but the "5 o'clock whistle" and the "whistle while you work" song seemed to be the right name in some form and so Whistle Workwear became a reality in South Hill Mall back in 1995. The idea came to fruition and today there are 8 Whistle Workwear stores in the Puget Sound area still practicing the same basic principles of providing convenient locations, giving customers the best products available at competitive prices and doing so with the best customer service. Whistle stocks every major brand of work footwear available today as well as being the largest Carhartt clothing dealer in Puget Sound. Becuase of the company's "northwest" weather, "The Whistle" stocks a huge assortment of rainwear as well as safety gear.
