Sacred Heart Catholic School

The Mission of Sacred Heart Catholic School is to respond to Jesus' great commandment to "Love one another as I love you. This is accomplished by partnering with families to form young disciples by teaching knowledge and virtues and by experiencing God's love in prayer and care. Sacred Heart School is fully accredited by T.C.C.E.D., the Texas Catho... lic Conference Education Department,which is under the guidelines of the Texas Education Agency. It was established in 1930 and includes a 3-year-old program through 6th grade. It is staffed by experienced certified teachers. Sacred Heart School admits students of any race, color, religious affiliation and national/ethnic origin. Each School day begins at 8:05 a.m. and ends at 3:20 p.m. with an additional after school care program being provided for students of working parents until 5:30 p.m. The Pre-K3 through Kindergarten are self-contained. There is some departmentalization in grades 1 through 6. All grades use a nine-week grading period. Following the guidelines of the Texas Education Agency and T.C.C.E.D., Sacred Heart School offers a strong academic program in the areas of math, language arts, science, social studies, computer, music, physical education, and art at all grade levels. Students also have the opportunity to compete in academic events at the Private School Interscholastic Meet in Brenham. Religious education is offered daily and extends into all other areas of the curriculum to instill high moral standards, to nourish a cooperative attitude among students,and to enhance the overall development of the whole Christian person. Students attend Mass once a week and also assist in preparing and performing parts of the liturgy. Library services are provided on a weekly basis. The student to teacher ratio is approximately 15:1.
