J-trading Inc. became known for the first Japanese company to invest in Croatia. J-trading Inc. was founded in 2000 and initially grew its business mainly by importing and exporting tuna and salmon. Then with the know-how of trading business, we became a producer in the fishery industry by making Kali Tuna d.o.o., bluefin tuna farming company, as a... subsidiary. Kari Tuna d.o.o. was founded in 1996. It is the longest and largest bluefin tuna farming company in Croatia. Croatia has a long history of tuna fishery since the Roman era and has even longer history than Japan. Kali Tuna d.o.o. was, is and will be a key enterprise in Croatia and strives to develop Croatian economic growth. Our company aim is to introduce "Japan standard products" from Croatia to the world by producing value added products, like no others. From last January 2019, our Japanese employees have been dispatched to a partner processing plant in the suburbs of Zadar, and we have begun to instruct local Croatian workers on how to produce "saku", "sushi slices", and "nakaochi". We also provide opportunities for those Croatian workers to come to Japan and that leads to the cultural exchange between Japan and Croatia. For our forecast, with the expansion of the production, we expected to create additional employment of more than 1000 workers. Even for the future of Japan, I believe these processed products can cover the shortage of workforce, lack of skills and experiences of workers in Japanese retailers and restaurants. Almost 70% of export value from Croatia to Japan is made by bluefin tuna. As a producer of the bluefin tuna, which is considered as the most important products in the economic relationship between Japan and Croatia, we will strive to improve the quality of tuna and our sustainable production. Lastly but no least, to add more value to our products, we will continue to contribute to both Japan and Croatia economically and culturally by promoting more employment and providing more valuable education for workers of our industry. ...Read More
