Bill Hawthorn has been engineering irrigation and water supply projects since 1960 in Africa, Asia, Europe and America. He was the first person to install a pop-up sprinkler on a golf course in the British Isles and as founder, owner and later chairman of Watermation Ltd. was directly responsible for many of the innovations that drove the irrigation industry forward over the last three decades. He was the pioneer of the two-wire irrigation control system and one of the founders of the British Turf and Landscape Irrigation Association - the self regulating body of the British industry.
