I am a Linux Systems Administrator at Alion Science and Technology. I specialize in Linux Administration, Windows Administration, and Virtualization. Start scrolling and learn more about me . Special interests include Linux Administration, Windows Administration, VMWare vSphere environments, and clustering technologies. The security of my environment is also important, so I am also familiar with best practice configurations of firewalls, Access Control Lists, and standard security-related policies. Current job assignment. In this position I manage a large number of RedHat 5,6, and 7 servers on a DoD contract. Infrastructure management involves Satellite 6, Puppet, and Ansible. Duties include providing patching for *nix-based systems on a tight schedule, and maintain the uptime of systems for the company's developers. In this position is where my Linux Administration abilities were put to work. Day-to-day activities included maintaining HPC Clusters (including GPU resources) as well as managing additional Linux resources (web servers, databases, storage servers) and Linux-based desktops. Config Management for Linux is based around Puppet and SaltStack. vSphere management was also continued in this position. This role also included direct supervision of between 8 and 12 Tier-2 and Tier-1 helpdesk employees, along with scheduling and timesheet approval. This job included mainly Windows Administration including Active Directory, SCCM, Exchange 2013, and most modern Windows Client Operating Systems. During this time, all pre-2012R2 server operating systems were phased out and/or upgraded to 2012R2.
