The 13th Floor previously offered a mixed variety of music genres that left guests uncertain of the type of experience they could expect. The new space gives the 13th Floor a clear, consistent look and feeling, which caters to a sophisticated crowd that enjoys a fun and social setting with live music that doesn't overwhelm the scene - like the soun... ds of Carte Blanche, a revivalist jazz group that was featured at tonight's party. Sondra Goad, owner of the Belvedere Restaurant Group (BRG), which operates the 13th Floor, said, "When we began renovations in April, our mission was to create a destination for guests to enjoy the extraordinary views overlooking Baltimore and to give a feeling of being above the day-to-day a place to unwind, to talk, and to connect. We are committed to keeping very true to our mission and providing a consistent experience that is reminiscent of the sophistication of The Belvedere's early history, with a contemporary twist." Views of Baltimore City are the main focus of the 13th Floor's new design, which was handled by BRG and Joley King Design Studio. The modern look incorporates the exposed original structure of the space-both steely and plush-with furniture and art from local businesses and artists. The color palette incorporates contrasting colors and metals with splashes of fuchsia. The artisanal steel furniture, bar elements and decorative pieces are designed as homage to Baltimore's steel history, while the custom designed stained glass ties into the historic stained glass throughout Mount Vernon. Also new at the 13th Floor are small plate dishes and signature cocktails. Small plates offer tastes of American fusion with hints of international flavors, including Pork Belly Sliders ($15), Pecan Crusted Brie ($10), Ahi Tuna Tacos ($10), and Chicken Tikka Masala ($10).
