What does The Arbor Learning Community do?

The Arbor is a non-profit, secular, homeschool organization offering academic classes for grades 1 through high school. We strive to offer classes that are academic, engaging, inspiring, and creative. Our teachers are passionate and knowledgeable about their subjects and dynamic in their presentation of the material. Classes are small; single teach... er classes generally max at 12 students, team taught classes at 16 students. We offer classes with experiences that are difficult to simulate at home--literature discussions, science dissections, and Japanese lessons; opportunities to share mathematical thought processes with classmates, tinker with gears and lock mechanisms, sing with a choir, and share written work with peers. We endeavor to create a feeling of community. Students can take multiple classes and be supervised during breaks and lunch times. We promote connections to the greater community via service opportunities and field trips. Families have a chance to get to know each other better at beginning-of-the-year and end-of-the-year park days, and as they linger between classes. We are a gifted-friendly community. If you are looking for a place that "gets" giftedness, PG, visual-spatial and 2e learners, you have found it! However, we are an inclusive community; any student who is interested in our classes is welcome to attend. As a parent of a child with multiple food allergies, I am very aware about food allergies. Students are not permitted to bring any nuts or nut products for lunch or break time. We are always open to your questions and suggestions.Read More
