Allen County Genealogical Society of Indiana Employee Directory

In January 1976, the Fort Wayne Park Department sponsored a Senior Citizen Genealogy Club. By November the Club had evolved into the Allen County Genealogical Society, and membership was opened to the public. Charter Memberships were offered through the end of 1976. A Genealogy Seminar, open to the public, was initiated in 1979. Several projects we... re adopted by the Society with the goal of publication. In the Spring of 1980, ACGSI published the first volume in a planned series of Allen County cemetery records and sponsored the publication of a Visitor's Brochure to aid genealogists using the Allen County Public Library. Guest speakers enrich the monthly meetings, and in-service workshops are offered periodically for the edification of the members. Members receive Allen County Lines, a quarterly publication issued each September, December, March and June. Back issues may be purchased at the current price. Some issues are no longer in print. The Allen County Genealogical Society of Indiana exists to.... record, document, secure, and preserve the historical records of Allen County, Indiana and the vital and personal records of the people who originated, developed and resided in the communities therein, research, organize, and present the early ancestry of all families in which the Society or its members have an interest, assist in the development and maintenance of the genealogical source materials of the area, actively seek opportunities to stimulate and promote genealogical activities, to introduce and encourage an understanding of genealogy in those not familiar with its traditions, and to instruct and assist those who are interested in pursuing genealogical research, and undertake any other project approved by simple majority vote of the active members present at a regular or special meeting.Read More
