Vu Nguyen (B.A., LL.B. (Melb)) is the Principal of Asia Pacific Lawyers (APL) Vu completed a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Melbourne in 1996.
He was admitted in 1997 to practice as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court of Victoria and the High Court of Australia. He has worked as a Senior Associate for large national and boutique specialist law firms where he specialised in the areas of commercial litigation and commercial law. Vu is the founder and director of APL. Vu completed a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Melbourne in 1996. Vu was recently involved in the following notable projects: Redevelopment of Kinnears Rope Works - Vu has been leading our team of experienced lawyers in advising an Asian syndicate since 2005 regarding the r edevelopment of the Kinnears Rope Works, which is a 3.3 hectares of industrial land situated in Footscray, Victoria. Vu provided advice in connection with the syndicates joint venture agreement, the acquisition, project funding requirements, planning application and general development activities for this project. It is proposed that the redevelopment will construct up to 1400 apartments together with a significant commercial and retail hub, which will have an end value of approximately $1 billion; Berkeley Apartment Project, Doncaster Vu advised a fledgling developer in its negotiation and acquisition of seven adjacent residential blocks of land from seven different private residential owners in Berkeley Street, Doncaster, for a medium density apartment development project. Following the client's acquisition, Vu assisted the developer to apply for planning approval, obtained project funding (both senior and mezzanine funding), and general subdivision and development activities. The development project involved the construction of 2 towers of 4-5 levels, consisting of 116 apartments and basement car parks. This project is due for completion in March 2012. Construction of Cong Thanh Cement Plant, Thanh Hoa, Vietnam In 2010 Vu acted for Cong Thanh Cement Joint Stock Company in relation to agreements with Polysius AG (Germany) in the provision of engineering services consisting of design, local manufacture, delivery of equipment, civil and structural steel engineering as well as supervision of erection and commissioning in order to establish a USD $420 million cement production line with a capacity of 11.000 tons of clinker per day at Tan Truong commune, Tinh Gia District, Thanh Hoa Province, S. R. Vietnam. In 2010 Vu advised AXF Group Pty Ltd in relation to a joint venture agreement to build a skyscraper of 34 storeys in the heart of the Box Hill business district, an inner suburb of Melbourne, Australia. In the course of finalising the joint venture agreement Vu assisted AXF in due diligence investigation of the development project and the joint venture partner. Vu also advised AXF in relation to various loan agreements involving project funding of $20 million. Vu led a team of lawyers at APL in successfully defending a group of clients in the Supreme Court of Victoria in connection with the collapse of the Vietnamese community funds organised by them, which involved approximately $20 million. Vu is also a registered migration agent and has earned a solid reputation within the Asian community since commencing his practice in Australian immigration law in 1994.
