He is an experienced trial attorney with a nationally-recognized expertise in arboriculture and neighbor law, and extensive experience in family law as well as state and federal criminal law. His clients include arborists, public utilities, landowners and recreational users and municipal governments. He has served as counsel on hundreds of federal and state criminal matters, and has served as a federal trustee on a number of complex commercial real estate bankruptcies. Mr. Merullo served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Ohio, with emphasis on drafting legislation in agriculture and horticulture areas, as well as on Ohio Department of Agriculture regulations. He assisted in the drafting of Ohio's first comprehensive pesticide statute. Author of The Law of Trees and co-author of Arboriculture and the Law, Mr. Merullo lectures extensively throughout the United States on arboriculture law. He also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Capital University Law School, where he teaches family law. Mr. Merullo is admitted to practice before the Supreme Courts of Ohio and Florida, the Supreme Court of the United States, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, U.S. Tax Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He is a member of the Columbus, Ohio State, Florida and American Bar Associations, and a member of the Dean's Council, Capital University. He is a member of the International Society of Arboriculture and the Arbor Day Foundation.
