Travis Downs
Travis W. Downs graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and earned the Master of Music degree in Percussion Performance from LSU. Before his current appointment at North Gwinnett Middle School in Gwinnett County, Georgia, Mr. Downs was the Director of Bands at Valdosta Middle School and an Assistant Band Director at Tapp Middle School.Ensembles under Mr. Downs' direction have been invited to play at state and regional conferences on several occasions, including a performance at the 63rd Annual Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic in 2009. he VMS Band Program was the recipient of the GMEA "Exemplary Performance Award" for the 2012-2013 school year.

The North Georgia Percussion Faculty consists of four full-time instructors (Joel Boss, Scott Brown, Travis Downs, and Mike Lynch) and several guest artists.
Travis Downs - Travis W. Downs is in his 6th year at Valdosta Middle School. He received his Bachelor of Music in Education Degree from the University of Georgia and his Master's Degree in Percussion Performance from Louisiana State University. While at UGA, Mr. Downs was the percussion arranger and instructor for the Redcoat Band. Before his appointment at Valdosta, Mr. Downs was an assistant Band Director at Tapp Middle School in Cobb County, Georgia for six years. Ensembles under his direction have performed at several state conferences, Georgia "Day of Percussion", the Grand National Adjudicators Invitational, WGI events, and the Midwest Clinic in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Downs is a member of the Vic Firth Educational Team and is a Yamaha Artist/Clinician. Mr. Downs has taught percussion ensembles at the middle school, high school, and college level. He has also served on many percussion staffs, ranging from DCI, WGI, BOA and various college summer camps. Mr. Downs is a very active clinician, arranger, and adjudicator throughout the southeast. Mr. Downs' professional affiliations include the National Association for Music Education, the National Band Association, the Georgia Music Educators Association, Pi Kappa Lambda, and is a member of the Percussive Arts Society.

Travis DownsEnsemble Music TechnicianTravis DownsIn addition to his responsibilities as an Assistant Band Director at Tapp Middle School, Travis Downs is the head of percussion studies at McEachern High School.Both schools are in Cobb County, Georgia.His 8th Grade Symphonic Band was just recently accepted to perform at the 2004 Midwest Clinic this December.Mr. Downs received his bachelor's degree in music education from the University of Georgia and his master's degree in percussion performance from Louisiana State University.He has served on the percussion staff with the Crossmen and Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps, and has directed both the University of Georgia Redcoat and Louisiana State University Tiger marching drumlines.He has also written and arranged for numerous university and high school marching programs throughout the Southeast.Travis is a member of the Vic Firth Educational Team, a Yamaha Artist/Clinician, a member of the Percussive Arts Society, a member of GMEA, MENC, and an active adjudicator and clinician for marching and concert percussion in the Atlanta area.
