Susan Lamson: Chasing the Light
The exhibition Chasing the Light of new gicless by Susan Lamson continues with select pieces at Visual Art Studio. See the entire exhibit online at http://www.starrynitegraphics.com/Recent Article:http://www.examiner.com/art-gallery-in-richmond/susan-lamson-s-chasing-the-light-on-display-at-visual-art-studio-through-sept-24 This new series features hand detailed fine art giclees in triptych, multiple and single panels by one of Richmond's most popular artists.Best known for her painterly photo manipulation of scenes in and around Richmond, these new one of a kind compositions build on Lamson's love of color which takes her signature style of PhotoImpressions to that next level. In an effort to discover the hidden and overlooked elements of nature, Lamson has begun experimenting with texture, light and shadow. The result is lyrical, often exuberant, and always highly interpretive. As a departure from her limited edition prints, Lamson is combining canvas prints of her photographs, with encaustic, resins, and oils. She feels this mixed media approach makes each piece more defined and personal. New works include landscapes and imagery from Maymont Park, Williamsburg, Savannah, and Costa Rica. Susan Lamson, an artist and art teacher at Cosby in Chesterfield County, has been represented by Visual Art Studio for the past decade. Owner, Anne Hart Chay, first discovered Lamson selling her work at the Farmer's Market in the late ninety's and after including her in several group exhibitions offered Lamson her first solo gallery exhibition in 2001. Resident Artists: Dan Rhett, Susan Lamson, Cindy Walker, Susan Singer, Terrie Powers, Michael Gettings, Chris Semtner, Greg Lewis, Susan Hribernik, Joel and Teresa Howard, Denise Bell, Elena Klinova, James Fortune, T. McConville Bryant, Cathyann Burgess, John Crutchfield, Glenda Smith, Jim McHenry, Gia Labidi, Jody Rawley, Linda Hollett-Bazouzi, Brandy Horvath, Guy Barnard, Sheila Holland, Rick Campbell, Katherine Benner, Dodie Ortland, Luciano D'Aria and Anne Hart Chay.
