Founded in 1919, SSSA is the oldest interdisciplinary social science association in the United States, and is composed of professionals and students in the social sciences, including academics and other professionals. SSSA is the umbrella organization for seven academic and professional affiliate associations, including the areas of Economics, History, International Studies, Political Science, Social Work, Sociology, and Women's & Gender Studies. The purpose of SSSA is to promote, cultivate and correlate the various areas of the social sciences and their applications through: Publication ofSocial Science Quarterly, a well-regarded and well-ranked interdisciplinary journal; and Annual meetings, which regularly draw about 1,000 social scientists from across the country and the world.
