Sherry Priester Paramore of Orlando, Florida is the Community Action Division Manager with Orange County Government which provides self-sufficiency programs for income eligible citizens.
Prior to joining the Community Action in February 2015, she served nearly 10 years as the Area Development Director for the United Negro College Fund's Central and North Florida Office and as the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at Bethune-Cookman College where she was responsible for raising funds from major private foundations and corporations. Like many UNCF Students, Sherry is the first in her family to graduate from college. She graduated from Bethune-Cookman College with a Political Science degree in 1991 and received her Master's in Public Administration from the University of Central Florida in 1993. She founded and continues to operate Specialized Grant Services to help obtain resources for community based nonprofit organizations. She has over 25 years of Community development and fundraising experience, the majority being in grant writing. She has successfully secured over $10,000,000 in private, local, state and federal funds. Sherry's passion in life is community service and she has received numerous awards. She was recognized as a "40 under 40" honoree by the Orlando Business Journal, selected as Jones High School Alumni of the Year, President's award for the Bethune-Cookman University National Alumni Association. Sherry is a member of the Board of Visitors for Bethune-Cookman University, 2nd Vice President of the NAACP Orange County Branch, Garden Theatre Board Member, The Holocaust Memorial Resource and Education Center Board and Member of the Links, Inc. She is also a Life Member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and a life member with the Bethune-Cookman University Alumni Association. Sherry previously served on the Orange County Arts & Cultural Affairs Advisory Council, City of Orlando's Criminal Nuisance Abatement Board and on the Orange County Community Development Advisory Board, two years as Chair.
