Shang Dai Revisited Alma Mater, William & Mary Law School
Dai & Associates, P.C., Chinese-owned American Law Firm, U.S-China transactions Shang Dai Revisited Alma Mater, William & Mary Law School On Friday, November 8th, Mr. Davison M. Douglas, Dean of William & Mary Law School, and Ronald Rosenberg, Associate Dean, invited Mr. Shang Dai, to visit his alma mater, and to share his successful career story with the current law school students. Mr. Dai is a 2003 graduate of the Law School's LL.M. program, and he is the founder of Dai & Associates, the largest Chinese-American law firm in New York. Mr. Dai shared with the students his personal journey to law, and how determination and perseverance helped him lead a fulfilling career. In spite of hardship and challenges on the way, he has always been passionate about law and is determined to bridge the gap for Chinese companies who oftentimes encounter the dilemma of either paying a large fee for big law firms in Manhattan but without getting equivalent good service in value, or saving money on small firms in Chinatown but without getting satisfied results. He saw the need, and started his own law firm to better assist Chinese companies in their overseas expansion. Mr. Dai encouraged the law school students to embrace the challenges and opportunities brought by increasing competition and globalization. He recommended each student to conduct a thorough self-evaluation of strengths and weaknesses in order to have a more objective viewpoint on themselves. In the end, he also answered students¡¯ questions on how to develop their career in law after academic study, which is a common challenge faced by many law school students.
