Serban Popescu
Program Specialist--Reception and Placement Mr.  Popescu's main duties include collection, review, and submission of family reunification sponsorship documents from USCRI network agencies participating in the U.S. State Department Reception & Placement program, liaising with the Refugee Processing Center, Overseas Processing Entities, and affiliates, and processing assurance forms.  Mr. Popescu began employment with USCRI as an Administrative Assistant, coordinating human resources for USCRI headquarters and field offices, and providing primary support to the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.   Prior to joining USCRI, he worked as a Research Assistant at Streit Council for a Union of Democracies in Washington, DC.  Serban received his M.A. in Nationalism Studies from the Central European University, and B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Bucharest.  Serban speaks French and Romanian.

DIRECTOR OF FIELD OFFICES Serban has management and operational oversight of USCRI's field offices. He joined USCRI in October 2007 and has supported the organization in a variety of roles, including providing program management, monitoring and evaluation, training and technical assistance, and financial analysis and forecast of program operations. Serban holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy and an M.A. in Nationalism Studies, both from Central European University in Budapest, Hungary. He enjoys dabbling in political analysis, coding, video editing, color grading, and VFX.

The Streit Council - Fellowships

Serban Popescu joined the Streit Council in January 2007.
He is currently a PhD candidate in Philosophy at Central European University, Budapest, Hungary. He received his Bachelor's degree in Philosophy from the University of Bucharest and holds a Master's degree in Philosophy from the University of Bucharest and a Master's degree in Nationalism Studies from Central European University. Prior to joining the Streit Council, he interned at the Center for Future Security Strategies, Hudson Institute and published a brief EU pre-accession report on Romanian immigration on the website of the Center for European Policy Analysis. His interests include NATO reform, transatlantic security cooperation and American foreign policy.
