Fernwood Publishing Co., Ltd. is located in the Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. Since we began operation in August 1991, over 240 titles, many by first time authors, have been published in just fifteen publishing years. Fernwood Publishing Co., Ltd. publishes books primarily for the university and the trade markets. Our objective is to publish critical works that address social issues and challenge existing scholarship by drawing the attention of both scholars and the general public. Our main focus is in the social sciences and humanities, with an emphasis on criminology, aboriginal studies, history, labour studies, women's studies, gender studies, critical theory and research, political economy, cultural studies, and social work.
