Sandy Friter | 215-394-8625 Sandy Friter, M.A., LPC, NCC, GC-C Sandy Friter is a Licensed Professional Counselor and certified School Counselor. Her professional experiences include being an educator for over 20 years. Sandy has provided counseling to individuals, couples, families, and groups in community mental health and private settings. She has also worked as a Student Assistant Program Consultant with the Bucks County Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependency, and she served as a Program Director and Parenting Group Facilitator with the Council Rock Coalition for Healthy Youth. Sandy specializes in addressing concerns throughout the lifespan, from childhood through adulthood. She incorporates creative counseling approaches including art and play therapy techniques, pet therapy, relaxation practices, bibliotherapy, and traditional "talk therapy" along with promoting healthy parenting skills and positive family relationships. Sandy addresses school issues, family transitions, appropriate social skills, conflict resolution, and the development of responsible decision making. Sandy also works with clients as they effectively improve their ability to manage challenging behaviors such as aggression, impulsivity, irritability, inattention, and self-harm. She helps to support and provide coping skills as clients experience difficult emotions including anger, sadness, and anxiety. Sandy is a certified Grief Counselor and Animal Assisted Therapy Handler. She is also a Volunteer Facilitator with Abington Hospital Safe Harbor Bereavement Groups and offers support to address difficulties associated with grief and loss. Sandy and her therapy dog, Bentley, enjoy frequent visits to patients in Doylestown Hospital and students in Central Bucks schools. They are also trained participants in the Roxy Reading Bucks County Dependency Court Program, which provides comfort to youngsters in the Children and Youth Services System and minor victims of violent crimes. In addition to being a Nationally Certified Counselor, Sandy is a member of the American Counseling Association and Pennsylvania Counseling Association.
