Rusty Grout is schedule to make his 400th donation at Bonfils Blood Center's Denver West Community Donor Center, located at 13952 Denver West Parkway, Building 53, Suite 335 in Golden at 9:30 a.m.
Grout began donating blood as a student at the Colorado School of Mines in 1976 and became a regular donor while employed with the United States Geological Service. During the 1980's Grout switched from donating whole blood to platelets, which he does to this day almost every two weeks. "I'm extremely proud to have reached 50 gallons," says Grout. "It's been 30+ years in the making and I'm grateful for all the wonderful Bonfils staff who've drawn my blood and platelets over the years, they're always very professional performing an outstanding job for nearly 400 donations." Grout will be presented with a diamond encrusted lapel pin by Bonfils' President and Chief Executive Officer, Bryan Krueger and a celebration with Bonfils staff will follow Grout's donation acknowledging his accomplishments.
